Residential Intensives
Short-Term In-Person Therapy for Non-Profit Workers
You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.
-C.S. Lewis
Intensive Therapy
Short-Term intensive therapy focuses on the present. Unlike longer-term therapy, much less time will be spent looking into the past. Therapy will be solution-focused and goal-oriented. Research has shown this type of therapy to be effective for many mental health concerns. In many cases, we may decide to continue therapy virtually after your week intensive for follow-up or continued care. The goal of the intensive week is to get you to a place where you can function enough to return home with new tools and insight.

When Intensive Therapy Is Not the Best Option
Intensive short-term therapy is not recommended for major depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, schizophrenia, psychosis, drug and alcohol addiction, other severe psychopathologies. Intensive therapy is also not recommended for children or adults with reduced mental capacities. For any of these issues, contact me so we can discuss better options for you.
Guest Apartment
During your stay, you have the possibility of staying in Restoration’s self-catered 480 sq ft (45m2) guest apartment. The apartment can be arranged with 2 bedrooms or 1 bedroom with a separate living room, an eat-in kitchen, and beautiful outdoor spaces. The guest apartment is 25 minutes from the airport and train station and a 2 minute walk from restaurants, bakeries, chocolate shops, a grocery store, a pharmacy and several parks. There are walking trails a short distance from the apartment that lead to the beautiful Erdre river. In the apartment you will also find laundry facilities and high-speed internet.
The guest apartment is a safe space to unwind, to breathe, and to enjoy the unhurried, welcoming environment away from home that is conducive to healing and growth. I understand the unique tensions and limited resources often connected to cross-cultural living, and hope that a stay in Restoration’s guest apartment will be a blessing to you during your therapy.
Stays in Restoration’s guest apartment are available to non-profit overseas workers during residential intensives, for a typical duration of 1 week. Cost for the guest apartment for one week is 150€.
Childcare is not available for residential intensives. Please make child care arrangements in your home town so that you have time to rest and reflect between sessions. Intensive therapy can be physically and emotionally exhausting.
How It Works
Sessions will take place at Restoration’s office in Nantes at the Chateau Bois Briand. This tranquil, beautiful setting in a restored fifteenth century chateau is surrounded by gardens and is a quiet, peaceful place to begin your healing.
We will work together before your arrival and during the first session to determine the best number of sessions for you. We can typically do two morning sessions and two afternoon sessions. For couples, sessions may be a combination of individual and joint sessions throughout the day.
